The night was dark and the trees were seething:
through the jaded winds that caught in the creepers
The clickety-clack, the furious whack
Of the tree-folk making their cherred nests
Beyond the black valley there lives a witch,
who sings to the lune spinning spells in a twitch!
As the fury' d night grows and calls out it's jingle
the creatures arise, and writhe and shimble
The words they murmur each to a beat
as they wind round corners to the girl they meet
"Farewell my child, through the woods you must go
But beware the things that sneak down low
And though you are but pure of heart-remember
they can't tell you apart!"
Clickety-clack, a tale of lore
A sweet ceremonious snack for sure
And now she goes through the woods no more!
