The summary of life and the inevitability of death.
Like a tall white candle

That burneth into a bright darkness.

And shorter and shorter,

It kindles to a world of silent silence.



Surely shall we be like it -

Our minutes hasten slowly from our peak.

Either doest good or bad,

Thy rewards shall come from the man so high.
