My thoughts before a major ride regarding my trusty iron steed.
Ode to the Ride

Once upon a summer’s day
I planned a road trip far away
I took the cover from my bike
It gleamed with chrome unto my sight
I wiped off the saddle and then, for good measure,
I checked all the tires for proper air pressure
The question came, I could not shun it
Would my bike endure to distant summits?
The Valkyrie said, “Always.”

I placed my head into my hands
This trip would come with strong demands
A trailer filled with clothes and stuff
Would accompany both the bike and us
I’d heard of breakdowns on the road
From other bikes under heavy loads
What joy to me would this ride bring
Would this trip make my heartstrings sing?
The Valkyrie said, “Always.”

My confidence and joy then grew
My spirit soared on wings anew
I owned a faithful iron horse
A good old friend who’d stay the course
The mountains, plains, the 2 lane roads
The riding pleasure would unfold
My flat-six bike would thus endure
And carry me throughout the years
The Valkyrie affirmed, “Always.”
