Footsteps in the Night

I lay here wide awake,
From footsteps all around.
I could sleep through an earthquake,
But I cant escape this sound.

Footsteps in the night,
In shadow they always come.
Never in the light,
I don't know where its from.

Whether a creation of my mind,
Or the devil's very own.
The source I never find,
It chills me to the bone.

Through the house I hear it,
Stomping even more.
It knows that I fear it,
It's creeping through my door.

For those of you that read this,
I'm probably dead and gone.
Proudly fought with boot and fist,
But couldn't last till dawn...
