A poem about Oliver who was special to me.
Oliver...
We have a secret known only to us,
Me the human and you the puss,
You’ve gone where all the good cats go
But I can see you now, running to and fro.

Scratching at my door, sitting by my side,
Yawning by the fireside, mouth open wide,
You were happy just to snooze
While I watched the ten o’clock news.

Once you were a stray cat, till Aaron brought you home,
At first you didn’t like us, you preferred to roam.
But then you got to know us and liked the food we food we kept,
Things were looking up when in the house you slept.

I see you where you used to be,
Curled up and snoring on the settee,
Time has passed and you are not really there
But I can reach out and touch your fur.

And feel your soft, warm silky head,
Your cold wet nose, your collar red.
No-one else can see you there
Just you and I have this secret to share.
