How I feel about current events
EQUALITY---FREEDOM

I see Patrick Henry
Within the great hall
I see him slowly rise to his feet.
He gives all there, his steely glare.

His voice is soft as he begins;
“I no not what course others
may take,” he says, then pauses,
Raising his arm in the air,
His voice booms loud! His eye's flare!
BUT AS FOR ME----GIVE ME LIBERTY OR
GIVE ME DEATH!”

I see Thomas Jefferson
alone in a room,
He leans back, his eye tears
as he pens the phrase,
“A NATION WHERE ALL MEN ARE CREATED
EQUAL!

The year is 1861
I see Frederick Douglas
standing infront of Congress His brown eyes flash!
His voice trembles and he proclaims loudly,
“THIS NATION SHALL NOT!
AND SHOULD NOT!
AND WILL NOT BE BUILT
ON THE BACKS OF SLAVES!

I see Mr Lincoln at Gettysburg
His eyes are wet with tears
as he sees the rivers run
red with the death of young men.
it does not matter on which side they fought!
What matters to him--- His nation is at war
His voice trembles with emotion as he says, with
reverence and determination:
“WE CANNOT DEDICATE! WE CANNOT HALLOW THIS GROUND!
THE BRAVE MEN, LIVING AND DEAD, WHO STRUGGLED HERE;
HAVE CONSECRATED IT FAR ABOVE OUR POOR POWER TO ADD OR
DETRACT!”

I see Martin Luther King, Jr
Standing in front of the masses.
His eyes scan the crowd as he
begins to speak;
His voice loud and booming,
lifting his arms to the heavens:
CHILDREN! He proclaimed!
I HAVE A DREAM!”
A DREAM OF UNITY!
A DREAM OF FREEDOM FOR ALL!

I see all these great men
standing in a hall
and in their hearts,
burns the love of this Nation,
and it's freedoms for all

And in these years of troubled times
with the hatred, the fear, and the strife,
the only thing we must remember;
WE ALL HAVE EQUAL RIGHTS!
