7th poem of 'The Jester' saga. The Jester, his wife, and Joshua, fighting their illnesses
The Jester And His Wife

Cameron and Julie were best friends forever,
They were always close, played games so well together
He loved to amaze her with his jester skills,
Looking at them, you’d not know both were so ill

Yet each of them knew they’d be healthy one day
They weren’t sure how, but there had to be a way
Their best friend Josh assured them that it could be done,
For they were young, in love; their lives had just begun

The three of them met by chance, at least so it seemed
Each with a terrible illness, they held the same dream
Just fifteen, they were in love with each other
No one could tell them they weren’t meant for one another

Slowly over time, their illness lost its grip on them
Until one day they were healthy, and that was when
Cameron asked Julie if she would be his wife
Marry him, love him, live together in this life

Now nineteen, they were married, with Josh by their side
But Josh was still ill, in him the illness resides
Before they could complete their simple honeymoon
Josh was in the hospital, his time would be soon

As they visited one day, they brought wondrous news
Julie was pregnant, they wanted Josh to choose
A name for their child; that only he could foresee
He smiled and said, “I think his name is Bradley.”

One day Joshua was gone, called away too soon
And Bradley was born, that very afternoon
For Cam and Julie, Bradley made life complete
What they didn’t know, was they’d soon suffer defeat

Childbirth had weakened Julie, neither of them knew
Her illness had returned, there was nothing they could do
The day Julie died, Cam lost a piece of his heart
Seeing Bradley made him smile, he knew they had to start

He taught Bradley to be a Jester like his Dad,
And as Cam again grew sick, his son was all he had
Then one day, strength failing, Cam couldn’t carry on
Ten year old Bradley was left, in the care of his Dad’s mom
