Blessings

My mother once told me
As she is truly wise
That life is full of funny things
Called Blessings in disguise

You may never see them coming
And they'll often cause you pain
But look again and realize
That they're blessings all the same

For beyond every storm
There's a better, brighter day
You run to greet the sunshine
That was hidden far away

And when it has returned
You discover something more;
You appreciate its warmth
More than you ever did before

So when its hard to understand
Why things turn out the way they do
Remember that your silver lining
Isn't far from you

Use the courage that you have
And all the hope inside your heart
To persevere in every trial
And be one who stands apart

From those people in the world
Who throw their arms up in the air
And walk as empty vessels
Who no longer choose to care

And when you find it simply hopeless
To continue pressing on
Give thanks for all your blessings
And do your best to move along.
