than sacrifice self to an ungrateful other

Tis better to sacrifice self
than the guilt of not doing so

Tis better to keep the symptoms
than risk the side effects

Tis better to be poor
than lose hard earned all

Tis better to be ignorant
than see what horror is in store

Tis better to be naive
than to be in the knowing

Tis better to be unaware
than know a powerlessness a coming

Tis better to die peacefully
than live a life of misery

Tis better to go it alone
than wait on help for youself

Tis better to be deaf
than hear such terrible news

Tis better to be lame
than run a race you cannot win

Tis better to be blind
than witness the ugly world

Tis better to be unloved
than lose a love once given

Tis better to say 'nothing'
when 'something' falls on deaf ears

Tis better to be sick and disabled
than work daily in the agony of unappreciation

Tis better to be frozen
than burned in the flames of hell

Tis better to go it alone
than pray to a god that ignores
