That one night long ago, ripping sounds. The sound of a sheet being torn into strips for a costume.

I looked everywhere.

In the attic, I found them.

All torn up. heads flat like someone stepped on a kickball.

You were very cruel. You would not speak with me all night.

And mother last night? She was putting you in the toy box.

She was scared of you. Thought she caught her finger in the latch. Remember the blood?
