{1880 census, Leonard was 71, Bettie 50, Susan 7, Orlanda A 2
1900 census, Bettie was listed as seamstress, in Slate River Dist of Buck. Co, with son Leonard age 22, day laborer. The name could be in error, since there was no Leonard Jr, and Orlanda would have been about 22 at the time
1910 census, Bettie L is 69 and widowed, living with Orlanda’s family in James River Dist of Buckingham}
Per marriage license, Leonard is 32 years older than Bettie, so in 1880 censu, he would have been 71
as listed, but she would have been about 40, not 50--could be error by census taker.

    Occupation Farm laborer
    Residence James River Dist. Buckingham Co, VA USA
  Father – Joseph T Ragland or Joseph G
    Mother – Polly A Ragland or Mary Ann Pulliam???
{Betsey Patteson or Patterson, age 69, was living with Joseph’s family in 1860 census, but no further comment is made}
Note: the census taker's handwriting could be a T or a G for middle name, the indexer took it for a T, but numerous researchers have recorded Joseph G as father of Joseph A with matching dates and locations. Further, the census clearly says Polly A as spouse, with Betsy living with them. Many claim that wife is Mary Ann Pulliam and her mother is Betsy.
