Forsaken

My God my God, why have you forsaken me?

You cursed me with a free will
I’m stubborn, selfish, and wish only ill

You made me helpless to anger and sin
I often think that I can never win

You allowed bad things into my life
So much sorrow, heartache, frustration, and strife

I pray and search your Word
And I find nothing but... answers

You use my strife, frustration, heartache, and sorrow
To make me better, wiser, more useful tomorrow

You give me strength, forgiveness, and love
When I forget self and look above

You blessed me with a free will and gave me your Son
So I could live for Him and know I have already won

My God my God, why have I forsaken thee?
