Female Independence and overcoming odds
He said he loved her;

         Loved to beat her;

                   Loved to berate her.

She believed his lies;

         She believed his empty promises;

                   She believed his foul excuses.

She lived for him;

         Only problem was

                   He lived for himself, too.

But now her days of living for him were no more.

She escaped from him;

         From his iron-fist rule;

                   From his chains and bars.

She breathed in freedom;

         She breathed in relief;

                   She breathed in a newfound sense of life.

She twirled

         twirled

                   twirled

While music flooded her soul;

         Pumped her blood;

                   And rapidly beat her heart.

She finally smiled;

         She finally smiled for herself;

                   She finally smiled for independence.
