My dad's life in the early days.
"MIDDLEBOURNE GARAGE, OPEN FOR BUSINESS",
The sign out front would say......
It was just Dad's way of tellin the neighbors,
He was there to work that day.

With a padded crutch under his right arm,
And vision in his soul,
He'd reach to open the old "master lock",..
And enter into his world.

A world of grease, and oil and rusty bolts,
Patching tires and inner tubes....
Under the hood to change a spark plug,
Or to do a grease and a lube.

"MIDDLEBOURNE GARAGE OPEN FOR BUSINESS",
Earning a dollar that way....
Seated at the bench, with piston in hand,
Rebuilding it that day.

Carburetors, timing chains, brakes relined,
Mufflers, gears, or valve job again...
Model A's and Model T's ,
Back in the time when cars first began,

When cars were made of iron and steel,
And they were built to last...
Back in those days, dear Dad's reputation,
As a mechanic was cast.
