A GIFT OF LOVE
I WAS BORN IN THE SHADOW OF THE SEA,
THE SALT WATER BLOWING ON MY FACE.
THE SEAGULL SCREAM RING IN MY EARS,
THE BEACH MY FAVORITE PLACE.

I’VE BEEN GONE NOW THIRTY YEARS
BUT THE MEMORYS STILL SO STRONG
I CAN STILL SMELL THE OCEAN BREEZE
HAS IT REALLY BEEN SO LONG?

WHAT DOES ONE WHO MISSES THE SEA
TELL SOMEONE WHO DOES’T KNOW
HOW TO MAKE YOU UNDERSTAND
THE PULLING OF THE UNDERTOW

IT PULLS ME IN MY SLEEP
BACK TO MY CHILDHOOD DAYS
WHEN TIME STOOD STILL AS I GREW
IN THE OCEAN’S MISTY HAZE

THEN ON MY BIRTHDAY I RECEIVED
JUST A JAR OF SAND
FROM ONE BACK HOME WHO LOVES ME
AND I KNOW WHO UNDERSTANDS

THE SMELL, THE BREEZE, THE SOUND
WERE ALL THERE IN THAT JAR.
OTHER’S SEE JUST SOME DIRT
I SEE MEMORIES FROM SO FAR
