Can I stare into the sky?
Wondering without a care as to why.
Like a child eyes wondrous and new,
Counting each cloud with nothing better to do.
Savoring a gentle breeze as warmth caresses my skin
To do so now seems almost a sin.
Troubles cloud a once harmonious soul,
life has begun to spiral out of control.
Yet hope brings forth a new sense of serenity
A chance to correct this hectic insanity
Only a touch could chase away the storm
When a darkening squall has become the norm.
A subtle stroke across my face
The beautiful strength of a lovers embrace
Small things that other’s miss
Like a racing heart after an unexpected kiss.
Or the heat that spreads upon a cheek
When staring into the eyes of the one we all seek.
They may seem small, and to others careless
But a life without them seems truly worthless.
Can I stare into the sky?
Gazing up past the all-watching eyes.
Fearless of the darkening clouds,
Breaking through the storm and hovering shrouds.
Perhaps though the future’s unclear
But I’ll never truly know if I give into fear.
