YOUR HAND

Let me give you all my dreams
Within wishes that I bind
That lay upon a high shelf
Can’t reach them by myself
I tied them long ago
So very long ago
With a cord of garnet strings
And many bittersweet things
Inside a purse of innocence
My lost innocence
And all it needs
Is your hand

And you take within your hand
The dreams held inside my heart
And you open up
And you lift them up
And kiss them back to life
And breathe life into my soul
A love I didn’t know
I didn’t know
Was right there
In your hand

It’s a miracle
You could find me at all
There was nothing left
A pitiful object
I too had lost respect
For me and my dreams
Pushed away by a world
Scheming to dry up hopes and prayers
And take what isn’t theirs
From within our hearts
And our hands


Then you opened up your hand
And a world was in your palm
You showed it all to me
I died from it’s beauty
And it’s peaceful calm
It was all there in your hand
Your beautiful hand
All along
In your hand
