Epilogue

Of all the esteemed members of the Uchiha Clan, it’s -hana or matriarch, Mikoto-sama had been the one who had taken the shortest time span for her prodigal son to eliminate. Although submissive to her fate on that bloody night, deemed the only solution to sought the treacherous powerful clan. Those who had only known the outwardly demure, gentle lady from a distance would simply presume that being a female of such stature and age, she would’ve lacked the skill to defend herself against such a formidable foe.

As prejudiced as it was, such folly could be forgiven; it had only been in recent years that she had been thought as the amiable type who was ideally suited to motherhood. Though those who knew her in her youth would scoff every time some unacquainted soul would claim that Mikoto must have been born to nurture a young family. Their dearly beloved friend had never been one to play with dolls or indulge in the whimsical fantasies of playing the housewife. But in the days of her prime, she had found joy in depicting the talented Kunoichi; sharingan wielding, stoic and assertive as any man, the bloodline of the famed clan ran strong through her veins.

Motherhood had tamed her wild spirit, the opinion of the Shinobi who had known her during her pursuit from Genin to highest attainted level of Jounin. Motherhood and the smothering task of being wife to her fourth cousin twice removed and head of house. Marriage to her distant relation helped to maintain the so-called ‘purity’ of the once most powerful clan in all of Kohana.

Another factor had ultimately caused the untimely demise of her career. The night in which she had unwillingly greeted Shinigami had been the greatest failure in her too short years. Mikoto had been convinced if only she had somehow being able to raise her eldest better, she would have been able to prevent the evenings events. And with these last thoughts of failure, Mikoto Uchiha spiralled into darkness; only then to be greeted by a familiar pair of azure eyes…
