Ode to Masculinity

You’re everything that I’m not,
and I love you for it.

When my days are long and stressful
you comfort me with your arms of steel,
You are my protector.

When I’m on edge and the tears begin to flow,
you gently take my hand, and pull me close.
You are my support.

When I feel small and helpless,
you rescue me, with your masculine strength.
You are my champion.

I’m not here to compete with you,
we both know how silly that sounds.
You are a man.
And I am a woman.

I embrace all of you,
your hard body, against the softness of mine,
your voice of logic in the midst of my emotion,
your leadership, in the heart of a crisis.
