When the status quo becomes too much to bear,
And the dreams of yesteryear lose their luster;
When counterfeit contentment is all you can muster,
And the fabric of your soul is weak with despair;
Imitation joy and delusory delight
Shroud silent screams and scars that won’t mend.
Synthetic sanity becomes your best friend,
Holding you close as you cower in the night.
