there she stands
surrounded by people
yet she feels as if
she is alone on a desert island

an empty feeling eats away deep inside her
her mind everywhere but nowhere
she looks around and the laughing, smiling faces
people she came with
but does not know
she looks at loving partner
he smiles and kisses her cheek
among the feeling of love for him
is an uncomfortableness
like the round peg in the square hole

she thinks of her friends
so far away but so very dear to her
no friends on the doorstep
to chat to or have coffee with

so there she stands
feeling
