Walking quietly on the beach,
         The man enjoyed the view
Of a sunset gleaming on the ocean
And of the skies red hew.

The island paradise was lonely
         For this man alone
For he had no one to share this sight
         No love of his own.

As he walked pondering his life
         A woman caught his eye
Standing quietly on a cliff above
         Enjoying the same sky.

She turned to head back down the path
         When suddenly she slipped
And into the ocean she did fall
As a scream left her lips.

He ran quickly to the edge
         And quickly dove right in
Not worried if there were rocks below
But only if she could swim.

He found her splashing frantically
         Way down deep below
And swiftly grabbed her around the waste
         Swimming with her in tow.

He reached the shore as people gathered
         There to lend a hand
And were pulled ashore to a safe place
         Upon the beach of sand.

As doctors prepared to take her away
         His hand, she did grab
And put a ring onto his finger
         A hero, he was tabbed.

He went to see her the next day
         But she had gone away
Leaving him wondering who she was
         Each and every day.

Several years would creep by
         Still he didn’t know
Who she was or where she’d gone
         So did his loneliness grow.

Each year he did return there
         Hoping there was a chance
That maybe she would be there
         To spark a romance.

Then one day, on a distant trip
         To a random place
He saw a woman across the street
         And quickly he gave chase.

He reached her and instantly knew
She was the one he sought
And she recognized the hero whom
         Was often in her thoughts.

She threw her arms around his neck
         And deeply they did kiss
For they had found the love that they
         Would never again miss.

And on his finger still lies the ring
That shows her love is true
For now, upon her very own finger
She does wear a ring too.
