A poem for my girl and the struggles we went through having to fight everyone against us
Flying high, in the bright blue sky, flying high.
I'M NOT GONNA LET YOU PUT ME DOWN!
I'm not from around here and I don't quite know where I am.
I'll always hold on to you but I can't hold on to this day, it's all gone.
I'm not asking for much. I'm not asking for anything.
Even though I'm not in your house I know I'm in your head.
Are you listening?
It's so hard to know when you're not scared.
I won't waste a moment. I won't waste a moment with fear.
I'm waiting always because it came down to save us and heal us.
We were hated, it seems we were all wrong.
Find the exit signs and disappear.
Find me bleeding peacefulness.
My shadow grabbed me by the feet and became much taller than I am.
Some of us will learn, we need each other like flowerpots and dirt,
and a year and a half we've been growing from the Earth.
Stay awake with me, it's getting light outside.
When time is still for us it hurries.
Stay awake with me so I can see the sun rising upon your shoulder.
People change their ways when they find someone they don't want to lose.
Let me see your face, your smile, your eyes make my heart stop every time.
Stay awake with me, let's take a picture, move you head a little closer.
Stay awake with me and close this window to stop this room from getting any colder.
Some things don't, some things don't change.
Born from angels, let's start this all over again with the same generation.
If time can break us down and not keep us around I won't wait, I won't mind.
Not this time and everything we've lost disappears.
It's just me and you now.
