Why I chose "Common Child" as my name on the site. |
To the reader: I wrote this about 12 years ago, when I found my way back to God. It may not be the best "writing" I've ever done, but it was very enlightening to me. There is no written pattern, beat or rhyme to this poem, except for what is found in the heart. This is why I call myself "Common Child" at writing.com. The Common Child I am the common child; The gray in a world of gray. Nothing about me seems unusually gifted or important; To the world I appear as an unlikely foe. I am the common child; No great title of "ministry" attached to my name. I do not huddle in safe places. I can mix with almost any crowd. Sometimes I want to be noticed, to be chosen from the group. Others shine so much brighter and overshadow me with their uniqueness. But I am just as important in my Heavenly Father's eyes for He is no respecter of persons. He whispers in my ear, "Seek Me, My child, listen to My voice. Seek My approval, seek My attention." And He shines His love upon me, making me smile in secret, knowing in my heart that wisdom and knowledge is forming early in my years because of my gift of commonness. I am the teacher, the nurse, the bricklayer, the clerk; I am the common person. I will harvest souls right under satan's nose because he is too vain to realize I am his greatest threat! Like a thief in the night, in my world of gray, I serve my Lord, appearing oh! so common... |
