A boy becomes a witness when he goes out for milk...
“My mom just sent me to get milk… I cant go home without the milk!” 10 year old Gilbert told the police officer.
“We will make sure you have milk when we take you home.” the officer replied “Now can you tell me what you saw?”
“How will I get the milk… the man is dead!”
“Trust me it will be ok, now what did you see?”
“Not too much, a man with a black mask came in the store screaming.  I was grabbing a gallon of milk when I herd POP! POP! POP!  Just like that. A woman started crying.  Then I herd people talking, but not like us; and then another loud POP!  The man was waving the gun around He yelled ‘Stay put!’ and ran off.”
“Did you see him get in a car?”
“No, nu-uh.” Gilbert shook his head.
“Did you see how big he was?  Was he tall, or fat?  What was he wearing?”
“I didn’t see anything but the mask and the gun!”
“Are you sure?”
“Yeah, I’m late with the milk, and now I can’t pay, the man is dead!”  The boy started to sob.
The officer took a five dollar bill out of his pocket, put it by the register with a note, “For the boy’s milk.”  He then walked the boy home to tell his mother what happened.
“Mom, I have the milk and there is a policeman here to talk to you!”  Gilbert went running into the house setting the milk on the hall floor.
Gilbert’s mother did not come to the door.  She was sitting in the kitchen, a gun in her hand, blood dripping from her temple.
