This poem comes straight from my heart.
Two months stand between
what might be and
what could have been.
This hole in my heart
is eating away
at my feelings for you,
making me long
for more time.
Time to get to know
one another,
because we never really
did.
Time to make memories,
because we didn’t really
get a chance.
Time to find out
if we were made for each other,
because I don’t really
know.
Do you?
Maybe my desire for someone,
anyone,
corrupted my mind
and made me think that
you are the one I’m
supposed to be with forever.
Perhaps you’re just
one fish in the sea,
as they say,
and we’re not that alike
at all.
But from what I know of you
and from when you listened to me
like I was somebody worth it
and from when you told me things
like I was somebody you trusted,
what if we leave something behind
when we go our separate ways?
What if I found
my soul mate
in you?
