God Grants Us His Will

God has warmed us
With food, clothing, and shelter,
From His own doing
Giving us interminable will
And the blessing of our family and friends
To help us seek and find these things.
God grants us this will and these blessings,
For He must remain invisible
To the naked eye,
Showing us His eternal love, mercy,
And grace through the kind, thoughtful,
Caring acts of ourselves and others.

God displays fruitless hospitality
Through our foundering grief and pain over lost loves
And the incessant bickering and hurt feelings
Gathered unproductively and carelessly
From our close ties. 
But our forgiveness for these trials
And sadness is a learned experience
Which brings us closer to God Himself,
For it is His mercy that allows us
To live and breathe, and ultimately,
To be happy and completely
Holy and sanctified! 

God honors our failed commitments
To achieving the goals of career,
Education, and financial strength,
By withholding these goals
Through tortuous and perilous obstacles
And our unclear vision of these paths.
For only when God Himself creates
A woman or man of enough strength
And courageous effort to achieve
These worthwhile goals,
Can He see Himself fit to bestow
The throne of career and money!
