to my daughter
I want to be closer but yet I’m not
How to show love, I think I forgot
Watching you grow and starting to learn
Life will never be easy, trust me now its your turn

I’ve been through hell and so have you
Who am I to judge what you’ve been through
Sometimes I’m tough , sometimes I’m sweet
Maybe someday, they’ll both meet

My problems to resolve and you too
Please honey you know what to do
I know I’m not doing it right
I’m dealing with my own inner fight

I know you are too but you won’t  speak
Please!!! I’m down on my knees
I’ve been asking what’s going on
But still you won’t tell me what’s wrong

So ungrateful that you can be
I can’t give you the world, neither can she
We try our best to do it right
At least we know you’ll live to try it right

So much potential in that little body
You’re smarter than most, show somebody
The world is yours to do what you wish
Maybe soon you’ll take advantage of it
