Lakefront Day
(inspired by my longings for home)

Warm crisp air surrounds and cradles my body free
sun plays peek-a-boo with the clouds and smiles at me
Not a better thing to do, some would say
Come play along, it’s a Lakefront day.

Birds soaring effortlessly against the bluest sky
My thoughts on this day could climb that high
No “Things To Do” could take this away
Go ahead enjoy, it’s a Lakefront day

Sno-balls handed out of a little window
Lean back relax and enjoy the people show
Give it a try; it’s on your way
Sit awhile, it’s a Lakefront day

Pinching tails and sucking heads, oowee yall!
This is better than a fancy Carnival ball.
Go on and get you a tray.
Crawfish is good! It’s a Lakefront day

The rhythm is good, got me swaying left to right
Every song that comes on is my favorite tonight
If you come, you’ll want to stay
Swing on by, it’s a Lakefront day

Got lot’s to do, doing lots will always be
Still have to slip away to where I’m happy
Oh, you just can’t help it anyway
