I’ve boarded taxis, planes, buses, and trains,
On stately trips, both benign and becoming,
Well-spent hours of great fortune and gains,
Enjoyment so short and expenses, mind-numbing.
Energy and time to seek places and things,
A glorious time of love and sweet rapture,
Being with loved ones, a heart just sings,
United, we tour; fond memories, we capture.
Looking out the windows of our transportation,
As we make the laconic and spirited trip home,
We remember the expensive and well-earned elation
Of the hotels, spas, and casinos we’d roam.
Hours spent sunning poolside and at beaches
With reading material, sporting a luxurious tan,
The work on our desks, way gone from our reaches,
Time to relax and sip drinks – soak up what we can.
Money can’t hold out, our greatest misfortune,
We must pay our bills and wait for our paychecks.
Preparing to pay rent and return to work soon,
A cruise ship now docking and clearing its decks!
