You remind me music When the violin peaks crescendo There is still time for largo You are solidly fixed in my mind Memories that sustain me rewind When soprano voices meet As the great chorus seek to greet The test of every instrument Great contraltos reaching mordent Trumpets sound but do not blare The French horn answers filling my air The drums won’t stop their beat My heart has literally grown feet You remind me of music We all forget whether we are white or black The musicians hold us on their track Percussions, strings and woodwind sound Touching every sense – so profound The fiddler’s bow and flutist flute Fast flying fingers quickly compute My ears and heart capture the sound Drums reach my heart pound -- pound You remind me of music Have you heard the Armenian Duduk? Played by its master like an old time lute? Its sadness incites an eager violin Skilled musicians with it blend In the overture we were invited to overtake Elements will our transference make Music surrenders you and me To places and times that we may never see You remind me of music The harpist adds to my exquisite ground My love, I think I will just drown Of music made perfect in Yanni’s way In the beauty of this hour; of this day How much passion can be found? Cellos, percussions, strings, woodwind sounds Pianos, saxophones musicians known in every town The Conductor refuses to open his eyes to see Thousands of seen and unseen admirers like me Lest this precious, remarkable moment flee Let this night with guitars always be In recorded untouched memory Take note, my love, of your part with me You, remind me of music So as we reach this climatic end I am so sorry you cannot see or hear What I have framed and recorded here Clarinets, echcoing first and second violins If only I could re-create it with my humble pen.
