Just a bit about me that may not be apparent in my writing
I suppose I'd better introduce myself to anyone who peeps in my port by giving a little personal info.

I am an artist (see http://loneturtle.co.uk) and generally creative person.

At the age of 60, I've yet to experience a day in which I don't see something I've never seen before, hear something that I've never heard before or experience something I've never experienced before. I guess when that day arrives, it will be time to move on to whatever comes next. Until then, I continue to wonder at the world.

I spend my time drawing, painting, carving (buffalo horn is my current chosen material) making things, writing and laughing. I laugh at pretty much everything because... well, pretty much everything is funny.

I generally rejoice in the insanity of my species although it does have its dark side.

I am an atheist simply because I don't happen to believe there is an intelligent deity that punishes bad deeds and rewards good deeds, I believe we are responsible for what we do and how we feel about ourselves is sufficient punishment and reward.

This doesn't mean that I believe in nothing. There is far more to reality than I can ever learn in a thousand lifetimes. I believe we are part of something we will never understand and I am comfortable with that. The only thing I know for sure is that I know nothing.

I am married with an adult son, two adult daughters and five small grandchildren whose heads I like to fill with utter nonsense ("Mummy, do they put railings around trees in parks because the trees have been very naughty?" "No, dear. Of course they don't" "Grandad says they do"). My adult children have learned that the moon doesn't follow us around because it likes us and that there is not an entire civilisation of Polywoggles living under the loose tile in the bathroom but my grandchildren are still open to interesting concepts.

I play guitar and I own a djembi (African drum) which I hit from time to time.

I love old songs from the Forties, blues, jazz and ragtime. I like Chopin and Bach and absolutely love Mozart.

Most of my friends are young people and I love their energy and fearlessness. I love the rebellious streak in them. I have friends of my age too but generally find them a little 'fuddy-duddyish'.  I enjoy getting older and await with interest to see what the age of 120 has in store for me (that would make me middle-aged now).

Although I have my doubts about God, I do believe in magic.... simply because it happens every day.

There's more but, if your not fed up with this already, I am.
