The man becomes limp and mutters his final three words,“I love you.”
Blood gushes out of the man’s mouth as he grasps his stomach in agony. The red liquid rolls down his chin and lands on the concrete floor below. The man’s eyes roll back in his head, showing pure white with the entanglement of tiny pink veins. Another blow is dealt to the man’s stomach, sending him into a brick wall. The man winces as he grabs desperately at the wall, trying to find something to support his feeble body; his hands contorted into shapes not meant for hands to be in. The man leans forward, clutching his stomach as if a great volcano had just erupted inside of him, and looks helplessly forward. The man’s eye lids droop and his breathing becomes harsh and slow as blood gurgles inside of his throat. The man closes his eyes as a final blow is dealt straight to his forehead, flinging his head into the brick wall, creating a sound that creates as much uneasiness as the silence after a baby is born. The man collapses into a heap, looking like a man who had just fallen in battle. His breathing becomes labored as his eyes remain closed and blood escapes through his mouth and forms a small lake on the concrete floor. He attempts to stretch out, but, either from his lack of strength or his crushed ribs, he is only able to yelp in pain. The man becomes limp, as if accepting defeat after a long drawn out battle, and mutters his final three words, “I love you.”
