This is a prologue for a story I am working on about vampires.
"Daddy, please don't make me go! Please!" Katie begged her father, tears spilling down her cherubic face.

"Honey it's okay. You're going go stay with the nice man, and he's going to take real good care of you." Her father replied wiping the tears away from her crystal blue eyes.

Katie glanced over at the man her father had referred to. He was several inches taller than her father, and much thinner as well. His skin was so pale she wondered if he had ever stepped foot into the sun. His long hair was black as midnight, and was worn pulled back from his narrow, angular face. The man stood next to the long black car he had arrived in, and was waiting for her. She looked back at her father. She didn't understand why he was sending her away. She had been a good girl since mommy died; hadn't she?

"It's time to go now." The man said his voice was cool, and calming.

"Go on sweetie, it'll be okay. I'll come see you soon." Her father said sweetly, urging her towards the strange man.

She looked at her father one last time and knew that he was lying; this was going to be the last time she ever saw him. She picked up her suitcase and started towards the man her father was giving her away to like some toy he had outgrown.

"You will not be needing that." The man said looking down at her suitcase with disdain.

"Yes, sir" She said politely as she had been taught to do, and sat down the suitcase. She then climbed into the backseat of the car, and sat crying silently. She didn't even look out the window as the car carried her away from everything she had ever known
