poem about low self-esteem, and self-shame.
I am loveliest in the dark.
When expressions on my face
cannot be read.
When no feature of my body is outlined,
and there is no tunnel to see in my eyes.

I am loveliest in the dark,
When the tears that flow,
are void and dry.
When the scars that hide stories are invisible,
and my weaknesses are overlooked.

I am loveliest in the dark,
When the blood that seeps out
is no longer red.
When the chilling pain running through my body is unnoticed,
and no one can see my hand reaching out for help.

I am beautiful in pitch black,
when you see through me,
because I am not seen.
