a piece I wrote for my father.
this life is not a life
of which to be proud
a daughter like this hangs
above you like a dark, dark cloud
throughout the years,
nothing but stupid mistakes
all this time I've caused
nothing but head and heartaches

it's a wonder you still love me.

now I have learned,
always you spoke the truth
all that energy wasted
on behavior so uncouth
up until now, I thought
you knew only disdain
but I realize that I am
far from your life's bane

I know now that you always loved me.

in you I will find
my sanity and strength
but this poem is hardly enough
to express myself at length
there is only one thing left
to be rid of this toxic pollution
swallow my pride and of you
I ask for absolution

now it's my duty that love to reciprocate.
