Fairy Tales
Clearly this age of materialistic athieism is not accepting of
Fairies. Science is worshipped as the cure and answer to every
problem. Is it so suprising that Fairies might become hostile?
The problem of Fairy insurgence was addressed in the
Pentagon. A multidemential directive was inacted:

"Capture all Fairies alive if possible. They must
not be allowed to disrupt our communities."

Nod was capture while sleeping on a pond lily. She was not
        amused,

                "The time may be delayed,
                  and the manner unexpected,
                  but I will have justice!"

Her tiny voice could barely be heard in the jar that held her.
The jar had been dipped in ectoplasm. Despite all her
magic and tiny fist of fury she was its prisoner.

Nod had been red flagged by the homeline defence. When
she tickled Presidential Candidate John McCain, during one of his
speeches. She then danced on his ball head and buzzed about
        the stage taunting,

"Crumbs for the people and cake for the king!
How fickle are the praises of braying sheep?"

A lab technician used a robotic arm to probe the inside of Nod's
jar. The interior was crackling with magic the probe
recorded this in cold logarithyms. No gas or radiation could subdue
the fury of Nod. Some flute lullabies did make her nap, but she
      would not be probed.

                "Lay me bare to ridicule
under the electric storm of your vibrator.
                You think you've won?
                This mess has just begun."

Nod was quickly stimulated by the resonance of the flute. She flew
about in loops; bouncing of the glass jar. It was concluded that flute
music could be used to entice other Fairies into jars. Many were
    captured, but Winkin,

"When I was a spark and land was free.
                  I heard the flute.
                  Before a word was spoken
                  I heard its music.
                  In the time before history
                  I danced to the flute."

Winkin set about to free her sisters. Her magic was the flute.
She was born with the first moon lit dew. She was older than the lost
continent. "Merciless men!" Winkin raised up a gail and then shook
the building where her sisters were locked in jars.

"All things are objects of my thoughts!
Have an ear to lissen to the flute.
The purest note can raise a mountain!
Seven times Seven are the turns of the world.
How, oft, have my spirit turned with thee?"

A high pitch filled the lab. The jars begain to shake, then shatter.
  Nod cried out in defiance,

"A mighty voice has freed us!
Let us make merry with our captures!"

Young men grew long white beards and stooped with bowed legs.
Young women turned seventy times their years and crawled about the
lab floor. Winkin beckoned her sisters,

                  "Leave these feeble mortals
                  to their crumbling work.
                  The fields call to us."

In a blink of a wink of an eye Winkin and her sisters were gone.
