i rote this when i felt betrayed by my friends a few years back.
Awake

I sit and stare through broken glass, watching things to turn to ash,
As rain falls down to clean our hearts, to wash away the broken parts.

What compels our eyes to see, what this world can really be,
The blood yet spilt and those left dead, leaving me to rest my head.

My friends fall far from what is here, staring through the door of fear,
That door alone is fear to come, showing wants and what’s yet to come.

I’ve seen before what’s left me numb, but my friends ye to be done,
They mourn their fears and start to weep, leaving me to fall to sleep.

I envy those who pity death, because a gift is our last breath,
A gift of peace to leave a war, to walk away from that door.

Broken now the day to night, the morn to bring a dawning light,
Night to day the earth to quake, leaving me to finally wake.

Awake I see the ocean sky, leading darker clouds to cry,
Awake alone to die in pain, leaving past what is to gain.
