A diary entry primarily, the day being a red letter day in my life.
It was just another plain, ordinary day,
she wakes up on the lazy Friday morning,
realising she does not have to go to work,
treats herself an extra 10 minutes of snooze.
For her, today would be a time to socialise,
to sing, be merry and have lots of fun.

He wakes up, anxious to face the big day,
the day he had been waiting for since long,
he'd been conditioning his mind to face it,
a day where his future would probably be made,
or it would be a journey into deep despair.

She takes a stroll, has a light breakfast,
with her sister, she enjoys a light hearted banter,
while he rehearses his words again tensely,
changing a syllable, a word, or a sequence,
to convey what's in his heart in a better way.

This day, she is going to be in for a surprise,
while it presents an opportunity to him,
though unsure which way she would turn,
whether she would scorch his life further,
or provide the much needed breeze, finally.

His heart suddenly races forth, and he,
gets restless at the thought of telling her
something that he wanted to, since long.
Its the possibility of her walking out
from his life, that unnerves him most.

Blood draining from his head,
sweat streaming down his face,
breath getting more heavier,
he finally inhales deeply,
making up his chaotic mind,
committing himself decisively,
for the big gamble with fate.

For him, uncertainty rules the moment,
the wait seems like an eternity,
while she, dazed at this surprise,
unable to grasp either the seriousness,
or the importance of the moment,
keeps reading on, asking intermittently
if he is only kidding her?

Thus ends her just an ordinary day,
with a small surprise for her in it,
while that marks a day in his life,
that he would not forget - for,
the scar on his heart would ensure that
he would constantly remember the big day.
