sometimes when you break up with someone it feels like an empty lake |
“Empty Lake” When you look upon the empty lake, Where water once had been, Does your heart grow its own emptiness Its own final death Did you ever look upon fish jumping in splendor Or of the quiet duck within its nest Did you try to paint the sun’s reflection as it fell to sleep Did you Master each color and gleam upon the liquid glass Creating your own reflected beauty When you look upon the empty lake Are you reminded of what once was? Smiles shared Tears well spent Do you think of the long walks hand in hand Or the twinkling of dreamy eyes Do you ever think about the long nights holding me tight as you whispered alls gonna be all right? Do you remember the silent prayers sent just for you The thoughts and dreams I had hoped for you? The very world I had hoped to share with you? Did you count down time till we met again? just to embrace the joy of being together Or do you not see the past but only the now? Do you see the emptiness and lonely hole The same hole within my own heart The hole where no life dwells Dry mud clinging to shriveled plants Once a place for birth, But now a lowly grave My own heart is a dead lake A pit for the dying No longer does it shine No longer is it a fountain of life My dreams, the shriveled plants My hopes, marked with the stench of rotting flesh You took my life and dried it up You stole my sunset, My sun’s reflecting light loosing you i lost my self Like a part of me i never knew, now gone forever Day by day Moment by moment i long for you i try to forgett, to simply walk away but the memories are to strong, too dear to me You were once my dream for life the core to my very smiles now you are simply a dream, slowly and painfully drifting away into night's endless sleep Standing here now, alone but strong, When you look upon the lake Do you see the beauty of its grace The beauty of endurance The beauty of revival Do you see God's beautiful creation given to you to tell of your worth to tell of hopes for better days When I look upon the lake I see a time of chance A chance to start again Move on Live When I look upon the lake I see both old and new I see a beauty beyond compare Revival and strength Gained not by brawn, though trials of the heart The tears and wounds are but evidence of healing that slowly took place though it hurt each moment, the blessing of wisdom never creates emptiness As once was this very heart Though the lake be still dry and empty No longer will it be filled with dead dreams and hopes No longer will there be tears of sadness rained down upon its mud No longer will wasted smiles cling to dry clumps Nor will nights and days be spent cold, There will be beauty and hope Old memories will be washed away Old pains will be forgotten. When you look upon the empty lake, Don’t you see the simple beauty? But if you do not see the beauty, The beauty I can see… How can you see the beauty it soon will be? |
