Elemental Poem #1: Fire |
The sky is on fire The stars are still burning Backdraft pollutes the heavens We stare up toward the blackened clouds Ashes still churning Pull up a chair or put your ass in the grass We just lit the fuse Poured kerosene upon the flames In the reflections of our eyes Your dreams go up in smoke We breathe an incendiary future A past recorded through arson Playing hide and seek with devil While the peaks are still burning The sky is on fire The stars are still burning Backdraft pollutes the heavens We stare up toward the blackened clouds The world has stopped turning Aspirations in a reverberative pyre Strike the match, point the finger Burn the witch A twisted mirror-image, charred Echoing from below Hell has frozen over while The earth thawed the sun Ratiocinate philosophies Laced with magnesium brilliance For which no ocean is deep enough The sky is on fire The stars are still burning Backdraft pollutes the heavens We stare up toward the blackened clouds Lean in close and hear the flames yearning Pyrophoric poetry penned In mushroom cloud exposure A pre-nuclear post-mortem holocaust bottled up With microwave oven convenience We've put God in the hot seat Boiling our repentances alive Just in time for dinner Truth extinguished in a molotov daisy chain Throw yourselves on the bonfire Toast a marshmallow Clap your hands to the rhythm Sing along with the conflagration The comet will come with attrition 1814 The arsonists have become heroes And our appetites have just been whet |
