about a teenage boy after his Father dies.
Darkness: nothing can be seen or heard, but the scent of death is all around. The sounds of battle are no longer heard. A small figure can bee seen through the shadows; the lone survivor or the bloody, pointless battle. A teenage child who has known nothing but war since he was born.

The child stumbles across the blood-stained battlefield; wincing with every step from an unidentified injury. As he reached the edge of the battlefield, his leg gives out and he falls to the ground. With an inaudible cry, he starts to crawl onward.
He continues his pathetic journey until he collapses on the front steps of a house. It is a house he visits often; normally for a short time, and always with his Father. For the first time ever, he is alone. Using the last of his energy, he struggles into the house and lays on the couch. He falls asleep after only a minute or two. When he wakes up, it is morning. His eyes flutter open, and he slowly stands up. He winces at the sharp pain in his right leg, and with a look of determination, he hobbles painfully to the first aid cabinet.

After tending to his injury, he limps over to the broken glass window, "Father, tell me why You came even though You knew I was to be killed for my sins. Tell me why You joined the battle, and risked Your life, to save me!" the boy begs his Father to reply even though he knows his effort is wasted.

"Maybe your Father wanted to die! Ever think of that?" A rough voice asks from behind.

"Why would Father want to die?" the boy asks, feeling stupid for talking to the air.

"Not that He wanted to die, He had to die," a female voice answers the boy's question.
"Had to, what do you mean?" the boy asks, confused. "My Father didn't have to die, I DID!" he fell to his knees, anger coursing through his body. He looks at his blood and dirt covered hands in dismay.

"What did your Father say to you before He died?" the first voice asks, the two voices working as one to answer the child.

"He said..." the boy tries to remember the exact words. "He said, 'Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani!?!'"

"Do you know what that means?" the second voice asks.

"It means, 'My God, My God, Why have Thou forsaken Me?'" the boy answers quickly.

"Do you know why He said that?" the first voice questions.

"No, I thought it was really random," the boy comments, starting to search for the source of the voices.

"His Father had left Him in the last moments of His life. He was calling to Him," the second voice informs.

"Why would His Father leave Him?" the boy asks, still searching.

"When He protected you from death, He took your punishment. His Father couldn't bear to even look at Him after that; when He saw your Father, all He saw was your sins," the first voice shares.

"His father rejected Him because He chose to take your place," the second voice adds.

"Why would He do that?" the boy asks, puzzled.

"Simple," the two voices speak as one. "He loved you!"
