A poet writes about the Victoria falls in romantic terms.
How could I be indifferent to such an alluring sight?
As the swerving movements of your graceful self
Without being a callous bumpkin?

Thousands of admirers make their pilgrimage every year
from everywhere to pay homage to her.
Alas, many a jilted lover’s life has been lost
In the magnificent spectacle before us.

You have brought me to the knife edge
Of the boiling pot of wonder and magic
And left me suspended there like a pendulum
Under the magic spell of Mosi O Tunya
The beautiful lady with many suitors.

The kaleidoscope that hangs on your mouth
Melts the hardened heart.
The fury of your tears as they fall makes
Me cry with you.

I retreat knowing that tomorrow again
I will dance with the primates...
To win your love.
