I'll stay as me, that's what I said
Still these words keep ringing in my head
Asking me if I am really true---
To myself and also to all of you

Back then, I remember those moments
Hearing everyone's hurtful comments
They never said it directly, only behind my back
Talking about me and the things that I lack

At that time, I began to pretend
Just so that I could put an end---
To their whispers and the painful words they speak
Words that pierced my heart and made me weak

I had rarely spoken about how I feel
But that didn't mean they know what's real
Did they even know how their words made me bleed?
When all I ever wanted was to be granted what I need

I needed a friend and all I could do was wait
That's how it was, I'm glad you weren't late
Because you came, I learned how to trust again
You offered your friendship to save me back then...

Now, I can proudly say that I'll stay as me
Remembering how this me, came to be
A part of me died that day, the one wearing a mask of lies
I became strong because I saw the truth in your eyes...
