Chapter One
te: Derek's Shaden  and Jake Silent

~Chapter One~
When his eyes finally adjusted to the nearly complete darkness of the room. Derek tried to make out some details. But there really wasn’t much to see. The room was tiny and if he spread his arms out, he could reach clear across it to touch both side walls at the same time.It also was completely empty except for the two boys. Jake stood pressed against the door as if it might vanish any second now. Not that it would change a thing if it did indeed vanish. The door wouldn’t open anyway no Matter how hard they pushed and pulled. After a while of feeling around the walls for another exit, Derek sat don next to the door and admitted defeat:” We’re trapped no way out of here.” Jake refused to believe that and began his own search before sitting down next to his friend.
h the door, spilling light in to the room. The crack grew largo many until it was obvious that it was a door they had manage to miss during their search. With A small jerk it swung open completely to reveal a boy, no older than maybe eight. Standing in a long corridor. When he noticed Jake and Derek, his eyes grew large and he took surprised step backwards. Then he got a hold of himself and turned to face them.” Has it been that long since I came here already?”

“what do you mean with that?” Jake asked,” shock replaced the boys surprise, “ You mean you don’t even know? Come on I’ll tell you but first you have to register. Newcomers are supposed to go to the reception and register hurry before he gets mad.” They followed the kid down so many corridors they were sure they’d never find the door again. No matter how it looked on the outside, somebody had obviously made sure the house was at it’s bets on the inside. The red velvet that covered the walls, seemed to have been brushed out not long ago. The black marble floor was o clean it acted as a mirror in some places. Small chandeliers hung from the ceiling every few steps, each holding eight lit candles, that filled the hall with a soft orange glow. They walked past countless dark brown wood doors. Every single one had a large golden number engraved. All in all it looked a lot like an old fashioned high-society hotel about to be opened again. They finally stopped in a big hall with a grand staircase leading up to the next story and a few sofas around a low coffee table on the right sight.
A reception desk on the left wit a small golden bell on top completed the hotel lobby image. The boy went over to the desk and stretched until he could reach the bell to ring it. It made a high clear ding sound. A girl of about the same age as Jake and Derek entered through a door behind the desk. She smiled as she saw them extending her hand towards Derek
”hi I’m Alicia,” she introduced herself. Derek took the offered hand and introduced himself and Jake. Alicia shoved a hick leather-bound book over to them.
“Just sign here and then Tjark can  show you to your rooms.”
she handed them two plain looking brass keys that had a tag with a room number hanging of their rings. While they signed the book, Tjark was practically bouncing up and down to show them around some more. As soon as Jake output the pen pen down he dashes of up the stairs and to the left before stopping in front of a door with the number 313on it. Tjark opened the door to reveal al large suite, with a king-size bed pushed against the wall in front on a large window that offered an amazing view of the meadow and forest surrounding the house. To the left stood a large wardrobe filled to the prim with clothes. That after closer inspection appeared to be just the right size for the boys, if a little old fashioned. Inside the room dark blue velvet carpet replaced the hall’s marble, the walls were painted in a light yellow in the middle of the room stood a comfortable looking sofa and a coffee table Tjark pointed to set of two slim white doors” The left one’s the bathroom the other one leads to the room next door. So you can visit each other at night. We’re not allowed in the corridor after night fall, weird things happen their at night."
Then he went to sit on the sofa and gestured for the other two to follow him. They did hoping to finally find out what was going on here. But before the boy could say a word the door swung open again and Alicia entered the room carrying a silver tablet with a teapot and four cups which she set down on the coffee table before pouring a cup for everyone and sitting down next to Tjark.” I guess you want some explanations now. All right, so, where to start. This place no matter what it looks like is not a hotel nor has it ever been one. It’s a house built by an ancient and long that race that used to rule the earth long before the first human was born.
When they felt their end approaching they built this place to store their power, to anchor themselves to this realm so they’d be able to return and rule again at some point. They just made one mistake, the house alone is powerless it needs inhabitants to keep it’s power up. The master you would call him Lamar if he were human. Keeps everything in order and calls out for new people when the power is diminishing. There’ also no way out of here. So don’t bother searching for one. I spent almost 1000 house keeps me young just like it keeps Lamar alive, so don’t look so shocked. There once was away out but the old master took the key with him when he left several centuries ago. Also I’d advice you to hold on to you memories and talk about them a lot or the house will take them away and you’ll forget about the outside world. Like poor Tjark here, he was to young to resist doesn’t even remember his mortal name now or his age.” Alicia lent back slightly indicating that she was done talking

“We have to find a way out of here before we’re declared dead or worse,” Jake stated pacing behind the couch. Alicia gave him a pitying look: “It might ready be to late for that. Time passes slower in here.” Oh great,” Derek moaned and kicked the coffee table. After some time passed and they still insisted on finding a way out both Alicia and Tjark promised to help them. Despite that they didn’t make any progress until almost a week later.
