a man participating in the rectification of his country in earlier days
Glamatous and Synarious

         He strode into the darkness
Of the room and saw with
Horror what was happening.
Glamatous took the hand
Of the man in front of him,
Halting the brutal attack.
He then said to the man,
“What are you doing? How
Can you plunge this knife
That you hold in your hand
With all your strength into
This young child? What has
He done to deserve such a
Harsh and unusual punishment?
He is but a child, merely in
His teens.”
         The man named Synarious
Let his arm down,
Still gripping the knife though
And said, “You have no idea
What this boy hath done! He
Has stolen my youth. He
Has taken what was mine!
         “How is this so? Glamatous
Asked of Synarious.
“You see, I used to work for
The king. I used to be at his
Side and help him reign. But now,
Recently this week, I have been
Replaced by this child. He doth
Not understand how to be noble
And hold the king to h is most
Upward power!”
         “How doth you know this
Is true Synarious? Do
You have the ability to
Go into the mind of this child
And see if he doth have
Determination or not?”
“No sir, I can not,” Synarious
Admitted, “But I am much better
At this than he!”
         “Where is your great-grandfather?”
Glamatous asked of the man,
Whom was now holding the
Knife loosely in his right hand.
“He died but about twenty years
Ago.”
         Glamatous nodded his head
And closed his eyes. He knew
Of this man, who worked
Day and night
At the king’s side. Everybody
Who lived had heard of the opportunities
This man had received
From the king himself.
But now he asked, “What
Of your father?”
“He died ten years ago of
The little known disease of
Influenza.” Synarious answered.
The young man now looked up
At Glamatous with hopeful
Eyes. His arms hung loosely
At his sides and he did not dare
Say anything to provoke
Synarious and make
Him return to his frantic rage.
Glamatous stood quietly
And didn’t gave a smile
Toward the boy in fear of
The same reaction from Synarious.
But he did give a slight smile
To Synarious causing the
Right side of his mouth to curl upward.
“You have no doubt that you
Shall also die at some point?”
Synarious nodded, “I know this.
But what does that have to do with this?”
Glamatous answered, “Why can he not
Have the same opportunity that
You have had?” he stared at
Synarious, carefully watching how he
Was reacting, “Why can you not become a
Helper of something much greater?”
Glamatous looked down at the man’s
New clothes. They were more expensive
Than the boy’s. But the old man’s
Face was shown with old age. Glamatous
Could easily see the wrinkles dominate
In the bridge of Synarious’ forehead.
Glamatous continued, “Look at yourself
Synarious! Your face shows the true
Meaning of age. Soon you shall pass
Just as your father and
Grandfather have! Why would you
Ruin all the good you have done
In your long life
For revenge on this young boy?
When you pass, why can you not
Go forward and be with God?
God! He is so much better than
The king himself! So, help
This boy have such a splendid
Life you have. Give him the chance
To wear the extravagant clothing
That you have been putting on the
Bare skin of your back for the
Past forty years!”
         Synarious shook his head, “I
Had nobody to show me the
Way, why should I make it
Easier for him?”
         Glamatous answered, “Then at
Least let him leave.”
         Synarious nodded and dropped
The knife to the cold, hard,
Stone floor.
Suddenly, the young boy ran from
The room and dashed for the
Castle.
         Glamatous turned
Toward the door, “You have
Done the right thing. God bless
You!” and left.
