A challenge to Death.
DEATH, DON’T BE PROUD

Death, you may kill me but can
Never kill my spirit.
It’s in my spirit to sing;
I shall never leave it.

Kicking I came to the world
And kicking I shall go.
I cannot just watch idly
The vibrating life-show.

I shall sing out ghazals and
The sonnets I shall sing.
Woebegone to my life I
O Death, shall never cling.

Death, do not be proud that my
Body you can vanquish.
You just cannot touch my soul,
Though such may be your wish.
