A poem describing the feelings of a parent toward their child in the perfect moment. |
Is Heaven Like This? I look at his tiny footprints as we walk along the sand I could wander down this beach for endless miles The world is perfect, holding my little boy's hand And oh how the world stops when he smiles I look toward the sky and say Is Heaven like this? A walk upon the beach Water lapping upon the shore, Happiness always within reach? I pick him up and carry him through some tall grass Set him down in the water Let him wade with me Though the waters only at his ankles To him, he rules the seven seas And I think to myself, Is heaven like this? A walk upon the beach Water lapping upon the shore, Happiness always within reach? Some ocean water splashes in his eyes, And I expect to soon see tears Instead he wipes his face And the sound of his laugh finds my ears Why? I bet he knows the answer to: Is Heaven like this? A walk upon the beach Water lapping on the shore, Happiness always within reach? I continue walking, holding his little hand His eyes are full of wonder, does he understand? Out past those great blue waters lie unknown lands But if I ever leave this beach, God knows it won't be planned Because Because this is my heaven A walk upon the beach Water lapping on the shore, Happiness always within reach. I look at his tiny footprints as we walk along the sand This is my Heaven I could wander down this beach for endless miles This is my Heaven The world is perfect, holding my little boy's hand This is my Heaven And oh how the world stops when he smiles This is my Heaven... This is my Heaven... This is...my Heaven.... N. Mounce May 25, 2007 |
