Leaders gathered together to discuss envirnment issues. Can they reach any result? |
Throughout a year, political leaders must deal with many meetings, no matter them like it or not. However, they never find that’s enough. Recently all of them recognized that nothing is more serious than climate change, so they decided to hold another summit special for environment, at Hiroshima on 32nd March, 2009. Mr. Green, represented UN, hosted that meeting. As usual, he started with his incendiary and enthusiastic voice. “Ladies and gentlemen, standing on this city built up on the ruins, I can feel great responsibility to protect the planet on where we are living. However, it had become much worse than last year we meet at Sydney’s APEC. This is why we need this meeting.” Mr. Desert, can't help interrupting Mr. Green, although he know exactly that was a very serious meeting. “We cannot emphasize the importance of protecting our conditions too much. And it is universally acknowledged that Australia suffers more than any other countries. Last month, we had lost one third of the farm. This had pushed many farmers left their land, some of them suicide. If we can't stop it, I'm afraid that Australia will be starved within half a year.” "There is no denying that you are saying the truth." A man said without any emotion. The plate in front of him read, “Died Sakula, Japan.” “I remember that I had warned you ten years ago. You should plant more trees than crops. Not you can see the results. You have less farms had and we have fewer whales.” Everybody looked at him with criticism showing in their eyes. Sakula soon found his way, “Yes, trees. There is no doubt that plants are the most important factor to keep the natural balance. I heard recently that Brazil is destroying broad stretches of forests. Is it the truth, Pelé?” With a sweet smile, Pelé answered slowly, “No, we are not destroying them, we are constructing. We had make millions of tons of timber from them. We have the plan to utilize more of our recourses. After all, this is our domestic policy. Let’s back to our subject. I think, the less carbon dioxide omit to atmosphere, the slower the climate changes. There are many things we can do, for example, build more nuclear power station.” “Correct! And that's what we are doing.” A voice shouted with excitement. It was Kim from North Korea. “But someone tried to hold us back.” “It was Nuclear Weapon that we were trying to stop you from using, not power stations.” For the first time, Mr. Armstrong kept in silent in such a long time. He always tries to express Voice of America ahead of any others. “If it was only power stations, we didn't need to exchange billions of goods to stop you from make mass destructive weapons.” Kim lowered his head, but still he murmured, “I don't know who owns the most of such kind of weapons, and I almost can't count how much nuclear test in USA each year.” The never-defeated Armstrong can't bear anymore, “Stop thinking in that way. It's ludicrous to compare North Korea with America. We are trying to protect the world, while you are trying to destroy the world.” “I can't see any difference.” Kim said. It's Mr. Green's responsibility to keep the meeting in the right direction. “I know you are only too eager to help this circumstance. There something else you can help, like closing some manufactories. Kim, can you think of something about that?” “I do hope those factories are ours,” replied Kim, “Unfortunately, they belong to China.” “Oh, China,” Mrs. River put her hands on her nose, “I think the pollution of Europe is closely related to China. I can see the yellowish air even at this side of the Alps. China should spare no effort to take some actions.” This put Mr. Yuan into the focus. After a shout while, Yuan started his long speech. “Our great leader Deng had chosen economic development as the most important policy of China, because China is a developing country, and......” Two hours later, Yuan drawn his conclusion, “In short, we don't want to raise the price of merchandise to ten times. Also please don’t neglect that we had contributed more to the globe. As all of you had known, Chinese use cars less than any other countries. If you can use more bicycles and reduce the use of cars, then I think we could solve half of the problem.” Silence, silence, silence! Finally, it's Mr. Sakula who broken the quietness, “Yuan gave us a good point. I can understand that it's beyond your control, so I suggest a compromise settlement. You can’t live without cars, but you can try to reduce the emission. Use more Japan-made cars, and you can get it.” “No!” Mr. Armstrong, Mr. Desert and Miss River all opened their mouths, but there was only one sound. “I'll be killed millions of times if I make such an agreement.” Armstrong Added. There was another period of silence. After a short think, seeing there was no chance to reach a conclusion, Mr. Green declared the dismissing of the meeting, “We must stop here,” he said, “the revenge of the natural may come instantly. If we want to back home before the disaster, we must hurry up.” |
