The Change of a Life

An island of dust,

This place will always be.

A place of mistrust,

All it offers me.

Familiar though,

As it lies in recluse.

Content though am I,

No desire to be loosed.



Out in the distance,

A city on a hill,

Light so brightly shines

With dreams to be fulfilled.

A ticket to me,

A gift from far away.

The city now in reach,

Though I turn it away.



This island so dark,

So greedy, and gray,

But, oh so much change,

I can make if I stay.



Sands through the glass

Marks the time laid in waste.

Efforts unconsidered,

Still, just a cold damned place.



The twinkling of the light

From that far away shore,

Now intensely resplendent

Its time to climb aboard.
